The fabulous tourist resort of Palmanova is right next to Magalluf, and you can walk from one to the other in just minutes.
If you are intending to visit Magalluf on holiday, but want to chill out for some of the time, you will find Palmanova to be the perfect holiday destination. It is close enough to Magaluf to allow you to enjoy the bars and restaurants in the evening, but also quiet enough to enjoy days on the beach with the family.

Information about Palmanova Mallorca
Almost everyone under the age of 25 has heard of Magalluf, but not many know much about Palmanova, even though it is literally on the doorstep.
Palmanova may be right next to the wild ´party town´ of Magalluf, but it has a much quieter and tranquil atmosphere.
Palmanova is the perfect resort for a family holiday and the amenities and beaches are great for small kids. Even if you are kid-free, you can still enjoy Palmanova, which is lively, but not quite as wild as its famous counterpart, Magalluf.
Older visitors flock to Palmanova in the summer and winter months to make the most of the mild weather in Mallorca, and it is a great resort for all ages.
Palmanova Mallorca location
Situated just 15km west of Mallorca´s capital, Palma de Mallorca, Palmanova sits on the south west coast of the island in the province of Calvia.
You can walk the short distance between Palmanova and Magalluf in about ten minutes, or you can hire a cheap enough taxi.
Just 20 minutes drive from Palma de Mallorca Airport, Palmanova is easily reached by taxi, public transport or hire car from the airport. Palmanova is situated between Magalluf and Son Caliu.
The Weather in Palmanova Majorca
Blessed with almost year-round sunshine and mild temperatures, Palmanova attracts holidaymakers from all over Europe. Summer can be hot and humid, particularly in July and August, and the rest of the year is generally mild.
As with mainland Spain, you will normally see a month or two of heavy rain in Palmanova during winter, but this could occur anytime between November and March, so check the weather forecast before you travel.
If you like it hot, and can stand temperatures of up to 40°C at the height of the summer, then July and August are the best months to visit. If, on the other hand, you prefer it cooler, temperatures in winter average approximately 15°C in the daytime but can be colder at night.
Palmanova Beaches
One of the best things about Palmanova is its fabulous beaches. A long seafront promenade links the three golden sandy beaches of Palmanova, where you can enjoy soaking up the sun and swimming in the clear waters of the Mediterranean.
The Palma Nova beach nearest to Magalluf is called Son Matias, and the western end of this beach, which divides Palmanova from Magalluf is Torrenova. The beach is long, white and sandy and the seafront promenade is lined with bars, cafés, shops and hotels.
The longest beach in Palmanova is Playa de Palmanova, which is 500 metres long. The Son Matias Hotel is situated at one end of the beach, and McDonald’s fast food restaurant at the other, with a large outdoor terrace.
Along with other beaches in the area, the Palmanova Playa Beach has been awarded the European Blue Flag for Excellence on a number of occasions, and is the best option if you are in to water sports, including scuba diving, kite surfing or paragliding.
Every beach in Magalluf and Palmanova has lifeguards present during the summer, plus warning flags and first aid facilities in case of accident or illness. Sun beds and parasols can also be hired, and you will find a volleyball net, plus and a shaded area of beach to cool off during the hot summer days. You can also find a tourist information office on the seafront promenade at Palmanova Playa Beach, where you can find information about boat excursions and water sports. A minimum of tourist information should also be available from your holiday hotel in Palmanova or Magalluf.
The Es Carregador Beach is situated to the east of the other two beaches in Palmanova. This is the smallest beach of the three, but boasts a small marina and a wide range of fantastic fish and seafood restaurants.
Palma Nova Nightlife
Although Palmanova is not as hectic or busy as Magaluf, there are still plenty of great places to go after the sun sets.
A long strip of bars and one disco sit next to restaurants, shops, apartments and hotels in Palmanova, and you will find entertainment to suit all tastes, ages and budgets.
Whether you enjoy karaoke, live entertainment or a quiet restaurant, you can find it all in Palmanova.
One of the liveliest places in Palmanova is Banana Joe´s. With a British DJ keeping you on your toes, Banana Joe´s is a great place to get in the mood before heading off to Magalluf later on.
If you prefer to relax and chill out in Palmanova, visit some of the cool and stylish pavement cafés which line the seafront promenade. Enjoy some quality people-watching, or sit and chat while the sunsets over the Mediterranean.
Drinks are relatively cheap in Palmanova and there is a lot of competition between bars and restaurants, so check out the happy hour prices and cheap set menus.
Eating Out in Palmanova
If you want to eat out in Palmanova, you will be spoilt for choice.
There are hundreds of restaurants, cafés and bars to choose from where you can enjoy every type of food imaginable. Typical British bars serve English breakfasts, burgers and chips and sandwiches, while fast food outlets include: McDonalds, pizza takeaways and Chinese restaurants.
If you are looking for something a bit classier, then try ´Ciro’s’ or ´Rossini´s´ for great food in a superb atmosphere.
Spanish tapas bars and a wide range of Indian, French, Italian and Mexican restaurants can also be found in Palmanova, offering good food at cheap prices.
One thing is for sure. Whatever you fancy eating, you won´t go hungry in Palmanova.
Shopping in Palma Nova
Palmanova offers visitors a wide range of gift shops and souvenir stores that are geared towards the tourists.
If you looking to buy tacky T-shirts, postcards, cheap clothes or a kiss me quick hat, you will enjoy shopping in Palmanova.
You can also find a small number of shops selling good quality items, particularly shoes and leather goods. Also in Palmanova is a tobacconist shop, a chemist, a post office, a supermarket and an off-license where you can buy your duty-frees.
Most of the quality shops are situated in Palma, which is the capital of Mallorca, and boasts a wide range of fantastic boutiques, designer shops and department stores.
The best shopping complex to visit is the Porto Pi Shopping Centre, just outside the city of Palma, which you can reach easily reach by taxi, bus or hire car.
Things to do in Palmanova
Whatever floats your boat, you will find it in Palmanova.
There are plenty of things to do for all age groups, including a visit to Golf Fantasia, which is a massive crazy golf complex with three 18-hole courses.
Different to normal crazy golf courses, Golf Fantasia enjoys a luxurious setting, and is surrounded by waterfalls, lakes, palm trees and caves. Whatever the weather, Golf Fantasia attracts fun seekers of all ages.
Marineland is another great tourist attraction for families, and offers visitors amazing dolphin shows and a small zoo.
